The Professional Photographers of Canada British Columbia (PPOC-BC) celebrated their 70th Annual Awards ceremony at the Anvil Centre on September 27th, 2015 and I was thrilled to be the host and MC for the event. Rima Dickson, our PPOC-BC Chair presented the awards and together with Jillian Chateauneuf and Kent Wong, helped to make sure the evening went smoothly, helped to educate our members and the public on the various awards and the process of selection, AND was still entertaining and on time.
I got some great feedback from a lot of people. It is clearly one of my gifts to be a speaker that can facilitate education and entertainment at the same time. I am so grateful to be able to keep following my passions and purpose with such support.
Aura. You are one of the best public speakers and hosts I have ever heard! – Grant Withers
It was a little funny to announce my own name as the winner for Best in Class – Commercial Illustration and truly and honour.
Here is the winning image, titled Love Umbrella (model is Mary June, wearing my favourite pair of red heels):
I also received an Honourable Mention in the Portrait of a Man Class for Real Life Hero (Model is Jerry T wearing….not much but a hammer and some pants)
